WASHINGTON (September 21, 2011)—Congressman Ben Chandler will hold his annual Academy Day on Saturday, September 24th. It is being held at the Kentucky Aviation Museum, 4029 Airport Road in Lexington next to Blue Grass Airport. Registration begins at 8:30 a.m. with the program starting at 9:00 a.m.
This is open to any student interested in learning more about the U.S. service academies. Representatives will be available from the U.S. Military Academy (West Point), U.S. Naval Academy, U.S. Air Force Academy, U.S. Coast Guard Academy and U.S. Merchant Marine Academy as well as the Army and Air Force ROTC.
Each year Congressman Chandler has the opportunity to nominate to each academy students who reside in the Sixth District of Kentucky and are between the ages of 17 and 22. Pre-registration to attend Academy Day is not necessary, and attendance at the event is not required to be considered for a nomination. Please note that applications for nomination from students graduating with the Class of 2012 must be received by October 15, 2011.
