WASHINGTON (April 8, 2010)—This afternoon, at an event at Fire Station #2 in Mt. Sterling, Congressman Ben Chandler announced the allocation of $126,000 in federal funding to the Montgomery County Fire Department. Major Robin Barber and Judge-Executive Floyd Arnold were in attendance.
“I am so proud to help get you the equipment you need to keep your team and the whole of Montgomery County a little safer,” Congressman Chandler said. “You put your lives on the line to protect your neighbors, and I can’t thank you enough for what you do each and every day.”
The Department was recently awarded a grant by the U.S. Department of Homeland Security’s Federal Emergency Management Agency (FEMA). The Assistance to Firefighters Grant (AFG) will help the local fire department and department of emergency medical services pay for training and equipment.
