WASHINGTON (July 19, 2006)
"The President’s veto of H.R. 810 is regrettable and disappointing. With the stroke of a pen, this President has destroyed the hope of millions of people living with diseases such as cancer, diabetes, ALS, Alzheimer’s, Parkinson’s, heart disease, and paralysis.
"Partisan politics and ideology have delayed the advancement of stem cell research for far too long. We have had this debate for eight years—it is time to move on. The American people support the advancement of this science, and so should their government.
"I will continue to support stem cell research for the potential cures it offers, and for the hope that it gives millions of Americans."
